Can I use Microsoft Outlook 97?
Microsoft Outlook 97 does not provide any way to login to the server to send emails; it only uses login information for retrieving mail. In order to prevent unscrupulous people from using our mail servers using your domain name we have made it policy it to require logins for sending mail. Since Outlook 97 does not support this we have to fall back to using machine information. If you connect to the Internet with a static IP address (or your router does) then we can create an entry on the mail server to accept mail from you without logging in. If this is the case please contact technical support and provide them with the IP address of your machine or network.
Why do I keep getting the message "No transport provider was available for
  delivery to this recipient"?
This error message is Microsoft's answer to any error that the mail program cannot handle. Because the error is so vague there are a lot of things to look for when troubleshooting this issue. We have listed some of the things to review.
  • If you are sending your email through a Microsoft Exchange server or your company uses an Exchange Server, please contact your mail administrator as the problem may be between your client and the mail server or the mail server itself.
  • Check to make sure that you are sending to a valid email address, make sure you are not trying to use a service like "Fax:John@555-1212".
  • You have configured Outlook to connect to the Internet using your modem if not connected and when it attempts to connect it fails.
  • Your profile contains an Internet email service (SMTP, POP3, IMAP) and it also contains "Microsoft Exchange". You will need to remove the Exchange service in order to send Internet mail.
  • Here are some more common problems for these types of errors. For further information on fixing these go to this Microsoft Support Article (Q176731).
    • A damaged personal folder (.pst) file.
    • No mail transport service in the mail profile.
    • You are using the CompuServe mail transport.
    • You upgraded your Microsoft Network (MSN) mail from Classic to POP3/SMTP.
    • A damaged contact.
    • An apostrophe in your computer name.
    • Outlook is not properly configured for offline folder use.
    • An incorrect e-mail type.
    • No delivery or address type for Microsoft Mail service
